FAQS
Everything you need to know before enrolling your dog at Massimo’s K9 Academy
🐾 General Questions
Q: Where is Massimo’s K9 Academy located?
We’re based on a private 7-acre training estate in Illinois, designed for focused, distraction-free training with real-world exposure opportunities.
Q: What makes your academy different from other trainers?
We specialize in balanced, results-driven training that transforms both dog and owner. Our programs combine structure, discipline, and clear communication — not quick fixes. Every dog trains under real-world conditions to ensure obedience that lasts beyond the leash.
Q: What age can my dog start training?
We start as early as 10 weeks old with our Puppy Foundation Program and work with dogs of all ages — including adult dogs and behavioral cases. It’s never too early or too late to begin.
Q: What breeds do you work with?
We work with all breeds and temperaments — from small companions to large working dogs. Each program is customized to your dog’s personality, energy level, and goals.
🎓 Programs & Training
Q: What’s the difference between Day-Train and Board & Train?
Our Day-Train program allows you to drop your dog off each morning and pick them up in the evening after a full day of training.
Our Board & Train program includes overnight stays with 24/7 structure, care, and multiple daily sessions — ideal for faster transformation or behavior modification.
Q: Will my dog remember me after a Board & Train program?
Absolutely! Your dog will still recognize and bond with you. The training helps them learn how to listen and follow your lead more effectively when they return home.
Q: How long will it take to see results?
Most owners notice significant improvements within the first week, but long-term success depends on consistency at home. That’s why every program includes owner training and a go-home session to transfer skills and leadership.
Q: Do you use e-collars or prong collars?
Yes, when appropriate and always with purpose. We use modern, humane training tools as communication devices — not punishment. Every dog is different, and we tailor tools to what’s fair, safe, and effective for that individual.
🏡 Care & Environment
Q: Where will my dog stay during Board & Train?
Dogs stay in clean, climate-controlled kennel suites within our private facility. They’re exercised daily, socialized safely, and trained multiple times a day. Our environment promotes structure, calmness, and confidence.
Q: What do you feed the dogs during their stay?
We encourage owners to bring their dog’s current food to maintain consistency. However, premium options are available if needed. We also monitor appetite, hydration, and digestion daily.
Q: Can I visit my dog during training?
For immersion consistency, we don’t allow visits during the Board & Train stay. However, we send daily photo or video updates so you can see progress. At the end, you’ll attend a go-home session to learn everything your dog has mastered.
